Pastoral Care Sacaments Baptism

What do Lutherans believe about Baptism?

Baptism is the liturgical rite which shows God's gracious and living acceptance of us -at any age. In
baptism, God freely offers God’s grace and establishes a relationship with us. In baptism, God
forgives sin, delivers us from death and gives everlasting salvation to all who believe what God has
promised. Baptism is an act instituted by God, performed using water in the name of the Father, Son
and Holy Spirit, whereby the baptized is united with Christ. Baptisms at St. John's are scheduled
during the worship service, because at this time the congregation receives the baptized as a member
of the family of faith.
