Who are we?
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ridge Valley is a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. We are believers in Christ, the Son, sent by God, our Father, to save us from our sins and to ensure us life everlasting with Him in heaven. We believe that God has sent us the Holy Spirit to help us to know and to do His will on earth, and in response to all these gifts we worship Him with love, praise, and joy. St. John’s members hope to live their lives as constant worship, but we regularly gather together to experience worship as a family on Sundays at 8:30 AM for the informal/contemporary service and/or at 10:45 AM for more formal/traditional worship. Everyone is welcome to join us, and in fact, your participation is one of the greatest joys of worship. There is Sunday School at 9:30 AM every Sunday for children aged three through high school where the love of God and Jesus is taught and exhibited.
There are many worship opportunities throughout the year for learning and worshiping as a community. During Lent and beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 25, 2009, there will be an opportunity to meet together, worship, and study, on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. at the church. During the week of the Passion of our Lord there will be services on Maundy Thursday, April 9th, Good Friday, April 10th, and a Children’s Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday, April 11th, all occurring from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. On Easter Sunday, April 12th, we will celebrate with a Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM, and with a service of celebration at 10:45 AM.
St. John’s Lutheran Church at Ridge Valley invites young and old, members and nonmembers, to come and to be an active part of the Body of Christ which is the Church. Together, with the strengthening of the Holy Spirit, we can grow in our love and service to each other and to all of God’s world.
